Even though the Palmyrah favoured products have been trusted to be beneficial medicinally, it appears that there is no scientific evidence to prove the benefits. Biochemistry laboratory functions with the objective of confirming the belief and also to find out the enhancement through the microbiological effects on the Palmyrah favoured food products.
The following can be mentioned as the important functions of the laboratory
- Investigating the medicinal and nutritional importance of Palmyrah products
- Investigating the biochemical changes that occur during the process of manufacture the Palmyrah based products and regulating them
- Converting or modifying Palmyrah based non-edible products in a way to add value to them
