Organized by the Palmyrah Development Board (PDB), Hon. Deputy Minister Sundaralingam Pradeep undertook an official visit to Jaffna to study the development of palmyrah and palmyrah-based production industries and to meet with producers, exporters, and cottage industry workers engaged in the sector.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister toured several palmyrah cooperative society offices and production centres located across different parts of Jaffna. He listened to the views and concerns of producers and workers involved in the industry and discussed practical measures that could be implemented to further strengthen and expand the sector. He also provided necessary guidance and recommendations to the Chairman of the Palmyrah Development Board to support future development initiatives.
The visit was attended by the Chairman of the Palmyrah Development Board Mr. R. Raveenthiran, Northern District Member of Parliament Dr. Pavanandha Raja, and the newly appointed Chairman of the Northern Province Cooperative Employees Commission Mr. Prakash.
