A special ceremony for the Distribution of Livelihood Development and Production-Related Equipment and Tools to Palmyrah Producers, along with the Presentation of Certificates and Awards to Palmyrah Industrialists, was successfully held on 14 October 2026 at the Northern Provincial Chief Secretary’s Office Auditorium, Kaithady, Jaffna, under the leadership of Hon. Sundaralingam Pradeep, Deputy Minister.
The programme aimed to enhance the livelihoods of palmyrah producers, improve production capacity, strengthen the palmyrah industry, and recognize the valuable contributions of palmyrah industrialists.
The event was attended by Mr. R. Raveenthiran, Chairman of the Palmyrah Development Board, members of the Board of Directors, senior officials of the Board, Mr. Prakash, Chairman of the Northern Provincial Cooperative Employees Commission, and a large number of beneficiaries.
Following the ceremony, Hon. Deputy Minister Sundaralingam Pradeep visited the Palmyrah Food and Beverage Production Centre of the Palmyrah Development Board in Kaithady, where he inspected the production facilities, ongoing manufacturing activities, and operational processes.
This significant initiative reflects the continued commitment to empowering palmyrah producers, promoting entrepreneurship, enhancing production efficiency, strengthening rural livelihoods, and supporting the sustainable development of the palmyrah industry in the Northern Province.
